Flickr
Flickr is a photo sharing site that allows users to upload their own photos, and in addition, tag their photos with additional information like location, camera, emotion, and any other category. Tags are searchable to help find related images.
Wikipedia
Collaboration is one of the keys to 21st Century Learning, and one of the best examples of collaboration is a wiki. A wiki is a site where multiple authors can contribute to the content. One of the best examples of a wiki is a free encyclopedia called Wikipedia, site dedicated to providing access to knowledge and encourages participation from its users in the creation of the content.
Web 2.0 for the Classroom Teacher
Sue Summerford has posted a very nice collection of Web 2.0 tools for the classroom teacher. The links are annotated and grouped around categories like ‘collaboration-wiki sites’ and ’some really good blogs to start reading…’An interesting item to note is that Sue used Filamentality, one of the earliest teacher resources for publishing web pages. It just goes to show you that online tools can still be effective even after many years.

Open Education Database has a list of 80 Open Education Resource (OER) Tools for Publishing and Development Initiatives.80 online resources that you can use to learn how to build or participate in a collaborative educational effort that focuses on publication and development of those materials. Although some choices focus solely on publication, development, or tools used to accomplish either effort, some provide multifaceted venues that offer communities a space to collaborate on one or all of these efforts. Collaborators can include institutions, colleges or universities, educators, students, or the general public.
