Ed Tech Journeys has a thought provoking post on the role of inquiry in the classroom. The full post can is linked below. One section lists a number of questions a teacher should ask at the beginning of each day.
- What am I going to do with my students today?
- What is it good for?
- How do I know?
Here are some additional questions to think about:
- What is the role of technology in inquiry learning?
- How is my school supporting inquiry, and what role do I play?
- As Seymore Pappert once said, “What can I do Monday that will prepare for one day?“
What questions can you come up with?

The New York Times is running a funny piece detailing the online advuntures of today’s preteen set. This story may disturb readers who have no idea what the author is talking about, while others will nod and smile as they think about their own children. At least I did!
21st-Century School May 4, 2007

eSchool News online has posted an informative article focusing on the Academy of Information Technology and Engineering in Stamford, Connecticut. The article provides a glimpse of some of the possibilities of how a school might look when approached in an intentional fashion. Here is my favorite quote from the article:
Though the technology is a big draw for many AITE students, Gross and his staff are adamant in their belief that computers are just a tool–one that, when used judiciously, can go a long way in readying students for life and work in the 21st century, but a tool nonetheless. For these resources to be used effectively, teachers and students must understand the point at which sound instruction and technology meet.

If you are looking for resources to use to facilitate a discussion around censorship, Bryan Alenxander’s Infocult: Information, Culture, Policy, Education has a nicely annotated blog entry on an article by Jesse Walker published in Reason entitled: Censors for Free Speech.
