High Tech Troubles February 26, 2007

InsideBayArea.com is reporting that High Tech High Bayshore will close at the end of this year. It seems remarkable that a school held up as an icon, where students all go to college, could not attract a large enough student body to meet its financial obligations. If I could design my own school it would look a lot like this one. Its demise is baffling.
I don’t think High Tech High — Bayshore has graduated any students yet.
Are you mixing up High Tech High with Downtown College Prep?

I was referring to HTH claims, from the parent organization, found here:

Most of the results seem tied to the HTH in San Diego, so the application of those results to Bayshore may be an assumption on my part.
Downtown College Prep also boasts remarkable statistics.

Most of the information on the High Tech High website refers to the San Diego schools. Bayshore has only been around one year and they took over an existing charter school. Even if the statistic remains true for the last graduating class, there is not enough information to make a real judgement.
I should probably also tell you that I am a student at one of the High Tech Highs.
We talk a lot about having a ‘high tech high’ here in Colorado. What would you say is the most important thing about such a school from a student’s perspective? Why is it your choice for a place to get your high school education?
